Fading Memories of Home, Colesbukta, Svalbard

Gesso and acrylic on 300lb cotton paper.

56cm X 76cm

Colesbukta (Colesbay) was originally a whaling station, then latterly a port serving the near by Russian coal mine of Grumant. Since 1988 the settlement has been abandoned. While wandering around the derelict buildings one sees evidence of lives once lived in this remote settlement.
